Bilocation:
Bilocation is a form of teleportation.  Incidents of bilocation have been reported throughout history and involve occurrences in which someone appears to be in two locations at the same time.  Many of the "doubles" (or Doppelgangers) seem distant and detached from reality.  The most famous incidents of bilocation involve those of Padre Pio and various Catholic Saints. Dowsing:
Dowsing is a very ancient and unscientific method of divination which uses a forked stick to locate objects underground.  It's practice dates back thousands of years to Europe.  A dowsing stick (or dowsing rod) acts as a magnet and moves up or down to signal the location of hidden resources.  Popular targets for dowsers include water, oil, mineral ore, and buried treasure.  For additional information regarding dowsing, please visit:

Disappearing Object Phenomena (DOP):
DOP frequently involves the disappearance and reappearance of common everyday items that usually remain in the same location (for example: keys, cell phones, jewelry, wallets, clothing, and other intimate personal effects).   The phenomena is frustratingly widespread and almost everybody can recount at least one DOP experience.  While many DOP incidents can be blamed on forgetfulness or on pranksters many instances may be poltergeist related, especially if the disappearances are consistent and the objects reappear in the least likely of places.  Other DOP incidents may be the result of friendlier spirits who move the objects to locations which are more familiar or comforting to them.  DOP theorists also suggest that objects may become invisible temporarily and that they may temporarily slip into another realm.  Objects sometimes reappear after people have asked aloud for them to reappear.  In other rare cases people have witnessed the reappearance of missing objects out of thin air.  For additional information regarding disappearing object phenomena, please visit:

Auras:
Auras are visual manifestations of the life forces of all living things.  They are visible to psychics and to many people during altered states of consciousness.  An aura's color indicates a person's mood and state of health.  However, lighting conditions and ocular conditions as well as various brain abnormalities can simulate the appearance of auras.  For additional information regarding auras please visit:

The Dancing Rocks of Death Valley:
Death Valley National Park is home to an ancient and seemingly unique phenomena which involves the anomalous movement of boulders across a large, flat, dried up lakebed.  The rocks fall from local mountains and can end up miles away over very short periods of time.  Although no eyewitness evidence exists, there is plenty of physical evidence which is characterized by large isolated track marks which trail directly behind the stones.  Just as fascinating is the apparent disappearance of the rocks once they reach the opposite side of the lakebed.  For additional information regarding the Dancing Rocks of Death Valley, please visit:

Entombed Living Animals:
This bizarre phenomena occurs when solid objects such as rocks, minerals, fossils, wood, or coal are split open and reveal living animals, usually reptiles or amphibians.  The objects don't have air holes and many are unearthed from far below the surface.  In addition, most of the animals crawl out of cavities within the objects, which have formed around their bodies and which are the same size as their bodies.  The only explanation for this enigma seems to be that these animals have the ability to hibernate for millions of years.  For additional information regarding entombed living animals, please visit:

Cannibalism
What would predispose human beings to consume each other?  Ancient Polynesian cultures often practiced cannibalism for religious purposes.  South American warriors often consumed the bodies of their foes.  In more recent times people have resorted to it to prevent starvation.  In the rarest cases it has been practiced by the criminally insane.  For additional information regarding cannibalism, please visit:

Curses:
A curse is a supernatural spell, jinx, or proclamation of hatred which is invoked as an attempt to bring about misfortune.  Curses have existed since the dawn of civilization and are placed on individuals, groups of people, or inanimate objects.  Every culture has curses, and many curses have lasted for hundreds or even thousands of years.  The most popular method for invoking curses is by mutilating the effigies (for example, voodoo dolls) of intended victims.   Many people believe that a curse is more effective if the intended victim knows that they have been cursed.  Famous curses involve:

Deja vu:
Deja vu is the intense feeling of re-experiencing a place or an event while it is occurring for the first time.  The most memorable instances of deja vu occur when people are placed in surroundings which are completely unfamiliar to them.  It can happen anywhere at anytime while alone or with a group of people.  Most people admit to having had at least one deja vu experience.  Several theories explain the phenomenon as being caused by non-synchronous neural or optical connections which fool the brain into mistaking the past for the present.  For additional information regarding deja vu please visit:

Guardian Angels:
Also known as spirit guides, guardian angels warn of danger (through "gut feelings" and intuition) and, in many cases,,divert it.  Most people who believe in guardian angels also believe that everybody has one and that the more spiritual a person is, the more in-tune he or she is with them.  Another popular belief is that guardian angels can either be angels of God, who have never lived or died, or spirits of the deceased (especially loved ones).  For additional information regarding guardian angels please visit:

Involuntary Instantaneous Travel:
Involuntaty instantaneous travel is a form of teleportation.  Very little information is available on this enigmatic phenomenon in which people throughout history have reported being instantly and unwittingly transported over long distancesInvoluntary instantaneous travel is usually associated with astral projection, UFO abduction, and fairie lore but can occur anytime, anywhere.  Unlike out of body experiences or astral projections, though, people who report first hand incidents of invoultary instantaneous travel recall a real-time physical experience.  For additional information regarding time travel incidents, please visit:

Astrology:
Astrology is the interpretation of the effects that celestial objects may have upon people and their day-to-day reality.  Astrologers convey their interpretations through daily horoscopes which are standard offerings in most newspapers.   While many people view horoscopes as entertainment, die-hard followers of astrology may plan their day-to-day activities around them.   Astrology is enigmatic because it is impossible to prove or disprove the interpretations.  For additional information regarding astrology please visit:

Altered States of Consciousness (ASC):
Consciousness is an awareness of the relationship between a person and their surroundings in reality. Consciousness changes during sleep, however, because dreams can alter perceptions of reality.  An awake state can be enhanced through hypnosis and meditation and dream-like states (trances) can be created by hallucinogenic drugs and by a variety of enigmatic phenomena.  These phenomena include lucid dreams, out of body experiences (OBE), and near death experiences (NDE).

Cryptozoology:
Cryptozoology is the study of animals whose existence has not been verified yet.   Cryptozoologists search for missing links of evolution and many base their research on legends, sightings, and residual evidence such as footprints, secretions, and body hair. In addition, many of its hypotheses are based on illogical and incredulous theories.   Popular targets of cryptozoologists (listed
alphabetically) include:
The Abominable Snowman (Yetti):  Yetti are large hairy ape-like creatures frequently sighted in the snowy landscape of the Himalayan mountains in China, Nepal, and Tibet.  Witnesses have described them as having yellow fur,  standing approximately 8 to 10 feet tall, and weighing several hundred pounds.  For additional information please visit:

The Loch Ness Monster:  Scotland's Loch Ness Monster, aptly named Nessie, is the subject of the world's oldest and most famous enigmatic aquatic creature legend.  Cryptozoologists believe that deep water lakes, such as Loch Ness, make ideal cold water habitats for prehistoric creatures which may have become trapped there during ice ages or due to seismic activity.  Although sightings date back over 1500 years, modern Nessie sightings didn't begin until the 1930s when a new road was completed along its shoreline.  Since then Nessie has become Scotland's biggest tourist attraction.   Like Champ of North America's Lake Champlain, Nessie resembles the supposedly extinct  plesiosaur with a large serpentine body, long neck, small head, and at least one hump.  The most famous photograph of Nessie was supposedly exposed as a hoax in 1993.  For additional information please visit:

Extra Sensory Perception (ESP):
Also known as clairvoyance or "the sixth sense", ESP is actually a set of psychic senses.  Some are extensions of the five physical senses while others are independent from them.  All of them can be used to obtain knowledge, however.  While most people do not exhibit any characteristics of ESP, many exhibit one or two.  Many psychics believe that everybody has the capability to exhibit all of
he characteristics of ESP, however.  Characteristics of ESP include (alphabetically):

Precognition:  The ability to predict and perceive specific information related to future events is known as precognition, and it is the most common form of ESP.  Most occurrences of precognition are dream related.  Remote Viewing is related to precognition and is the ability to gather information about near and distant objects.  Retrocognition is also related to precognition and is the ability to perceive specific information related to recent or distant past events.  Many people experience retrocognition as if they are witnessing the events firsthand, in real time.

Ghosts:
Also known as specters, spirits, phantoms, and wraiths, ghosts are apparitions and magnifications of disembodied souls.  Most often, they appear as the result of an unexpected or premature death.  Most take human form and many can speak or convey thoughts.  Others seem unresponsive and oblivious to their surroundings.  Apparitions can appear solid, transparent, translucent, shadowy, or as balls of light.  Manifestations can also occur via physical contact, cold spots, voices, tapping
sounds, and footsteps.  Ghostly apparitions include:
Doppelganger's:  Doppelganger's are "doubles" that take the form of living or deceased people.  Living doppelgangers appear during incidents of bliocation and astral projection.  They are considered to be pleas for help by people in crisis, or warnings of an impending crisis  An expected person's doppelganger may appear prior to his or her actual arrival, often wearing clothing identical to that of the real person.  Deceased doppelgangers often appear to people who are unaware that the person has died.  It is considered a bad omen if someone sees their own doppelganger.  For additional information please visit:
Unsolvedmysteries.com: Doppelgangers

Ectoplasm:  Ectoplasm is an often foul smelling physical manifestation of a ghost.  It can radiate from psychic mediums during communications with spirits as a slimy substance or it can appear as a floating or swirling mist.  It can also take the shape of a people or objects.  Photographic evidence of ectoplasm is much more common than physical evidence.  For additional information please visit:
Monstrous.com: Ectoplasms

Ghosts In Photographs:  When ghosts are photographed they usually appear as ectoplasm (a misty fog) or as orbs (balls of light).  In many cases, however, they appear in human form and can turn up unexpectedly either in the foreground or background.  It is not uncommon for ghosts to pose for the camera along with the subject of the picture. Phantom Hitchhikers:  Phantom hitchhikers provide the basis for some of the best ghost stories and urban legends.  They usually appear completely normal and may engage in conversation with the driver.  In many instances they simply vanish from the moving vehicle.  In other instances the driver doesn't realize that their passenger is dead until after he or she has been dropped off at their destination.  Phantom hitchhikers have also warned drivers of impending danger along the road ahead.  They have often been the victims of fatal auto accidents which have occurred somewhere along their hitchhiking route.  For additional information please visit:

Phantom Phone Callers:  Phantom phone calls are a type of electronic voice phenomena.  Most phantom phone calls occur following the recent death of a close relative or friend.  The phone may ring normally or off-tone and often only one phone will ring (out of 2 or 3 extensions on the same line).  The caller's voice, although disturbingly familiar, often seems distant and desperate for conversation.  The caller frequently uses buzz words and catch phrases that are keyed to both parties.  Bad connections end when the line goes dead or when the caller hangs up in haste.  In cases where the recipient is unaware of the death of the caller, the conversation may last a long time.  One-time incidents seem to be the caller's way of saying a final goodbye.  Repeat incidents may warn of impending danger or attempt to impart information needed by the recipient.  For additional information please visit:

Poltergeists: Poltergeists are lost or mischievous spirits who like to make their presence known.  Usually unaware that they have died, they resent their living subjects and seek to aggravate them.  Poltergeist manifestations are frequently characterized by loud noises, mysterious lights, bad odors, and the frequent movement and disappearance of objects.  Poltergeists can also inflict physical harm.  Many people believe that poltergeist activity is the result of deliberate or unwitting psychokinetic manifestations.  For additional information please visit:

Multiple Personalities:  Although very rare, it is possible for one person to have more than one personality. In such cases, each personality may be triggered spontaneously, may have its own physical characteristics, and may be independent and/or unaware of the others.  In addition, some of the personalities may be male while others may be female.  Many instances of multiple personalities are manifestations of a defense mechanism which results from child abuse.  For additional information please visit:

Possession:  Possession occurs when a foreign entity invades the body of a human being and becomes the dominant personality.  Characteristics of possession include behavioral changes, superhuman strength, and the ability of the host to speak a language which is unfamiliar to the victim.  In rare cases, animals (usually family pets) can become possessed and suffer dramatic behavioral changes.  Invading entities may be sprits or demons and it is widely believed that Ouija boards can inadvertently invite possession.  Entities are expelled via exorcisms.  For additional information please visit:
